Question

My friend had pediatric polio when they were young, and now they have difficulty moving. I’m worried that my three-year-old son might get the disease too. Is the pediatric polio vaccine effective?

Answer

The measles vaccine is a weakened live vaccine used to prevent measles. There are contraindications to receiving the vaccine, including a history of allergy to eggs or neomycin, known immune deficiencies, or long-term use of immunosuppressants, as well as severe or extreme malnutrition. If you have a fever (body temperature over 38 degrees Celsius), have received immunoglobulin in the past month, or have received a live attenuated vaccine, you should temporarily suspend the measles vaccine. After vaccination, a few people may experience mild fever for 6 to 10 days, usually not exceeding 2 days, and occasionally may develop a rash.
