Question
Other children can speak at one year old, but my child is two and still can’t talk. They don’t smile much and don’t reach out to grab things. What’s going on?
Answer
Hello, the main symptoms of pediatric cerebral palsy include slow, irregular, uncontrolled, purposeless, and uncoordinated movements in a quiet state. There is poor head control with repetitive tongue protrusion and retraction movements. Unintentional movements of the trunk and upper limbs are more prominent, and chewing and swallowing actions are affected, often resulting in drooling. Commonly observed are increased muscle tone or instability. Abnormal movements disappear after falling asleep. Typically, intellectual disability is not severe, and simple athetoid types are rare.
