Question
My baby is 10 months old, and for this period, the stool has been irregular. It’s always loose, sometimes once a day and sometimes 2 to 3 times. We just switched to a new formula milk last month, and it started right after the switch. I’m not sure if it’s because of the change in formula?
Answer
Treating infant diarrhea requires a comprehensive approach including the following measures: 1. Maintain the diet that was in place before the diarrhea started, but pay attention to eating small, frequent meals to avoid oily and spicy foods that can exacerbate digestive burden; 2. Prevent and correct dehydration: Generally, low-osmolarity oral rehydration salts are chosen and taken according to need; drink more if diarrhea is frequent; 3. Zinc supplementation: Zinc is a standard treatment for all acute and chronic diarrhea, helping to quickly repair damaged intestinal mucosa and prevent recurrence of diarrhea.
