Question

My child has a hydrocele, now over a year old. It doesn’t enlarge when sleeping, but it does when squatting or with excessive exercise. How are hydroceles formed?

Answer

This is not self-healing. In the early stages or with mild symptoms, patients may experience pain, an enlarged abdomen, indigestion, and diarrhea. As the disease progresses, the swelling may drop into the scrotum, causing difficulty in movement and walking. In severe cases, it can lead to incarceration. If not treated promptly, it can cause intestinal necrosis and even threaten life. Therefore, it is recommended to take timely treatment measures. It is suggested to go to the hospital as the symptoms are not too severe yet.
