Question

Since birth, my child has had poor health, often suffering from colds and coughs. Recently, the cough has intensified. How can I effectively treat my child’s pediatric asthma?

Answer

Considering that the child’s airways are not fully matured and the cough is accompanied by severe wheezing, it is suspected to be viral wheezing bronchitis. This condition is usually caused by viral infection and lasts about 10 days. If the wheezing symptoms do not exceed three times, it does not necessarily indicate asthma. It is recommended to undergo nebulizer inhalation therapy, actively control the infection, and if necessary, take a chest X-ray for confirmation. Additionally, it is advised to prevent colds and include antiallergic medication when taking oral antibiotics. It is best to wear a mask when going out in winter to avoid contact with cold air.
