Question
Hello doctor, I would like to ask: How long does it take to treat acquired strabismus and what are some effective treatments? Could you please give me some advice?
Answer
(1) Esotropia: Generally known as “cross-eyes.” The eyes deviate inward. Clinically, it can be divided into congenital and acquired strabismus. One that develops from birth to later in life is called congenital esotropia. (2) Exotropia: This refers to eyes that deviate outward. It can generally be divided into intermittent and constant exotropia. Intermittent exotropia is due to the patient having better accommodative ability; most of the time, the eyes can be maintained in a normal position through accommodative ability, only occasionally showing an outward deviation in bright sunlight or when tired and not paying attention. It is generally recommended that you go to the hospital for an examination and see what kind of treatment method is needed. Generally speaking, the sooner the treatment, the better the outcome.
