Question

How should a pediatric hypospadias problem be handled?

Answer

Pediatric hypospadias is a congenital abnormality that occurs during the male embryo’s development, primarily influenced by the pituitary gland and androgens. If there is a deficiency in androgens, it can lead to abnormal fusion of the folds on both sides of the urogenital groove, resulting in a defect in the ventral wall of the urethra. In this case, the normal urethral opening will be located on the ventral posterior side of the male lower body, forming hypospadias. Pediatric hypospadias can be treated surgically at a local regular hospital’s urology department, and post-operative recovery can be excellent.
