Question
The diagnosis of hypoplastic brain development is very concerning. Expert, is my son’s condition severe? Does he need special treatment? And can he receive the Japanese encephalitis vaccine? Urgent! Thank you!
Answer
Your child has been diagnosed with mild hypoplastic brain development, which may be due to circulatory and gas exchange disorders between the mother and fetus, or it could lead to neonatal hypotension and venous congestion. This may cause cerebral ischemia and hypoxia, leading to brain damage and potential cerebral palsy. Causes of this condition include maternal factors such as pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, heart failure, massive hemorrhage, anemia, shock, or drug abuse, as well as placental abnormalities such as placental abruption, placenta previa, placental infarction, or placental dysfunction.
