Question

My baby has jaundice. What should I feed him? Can he take Yinzhu Huang oral liquid?

Answer

If a newborn has physiological jaundice, it usually resolves on its own within 15 days after birth and no special medication is needed. However, if pathological jaundice is present, appropriate medication may be considered. Physiological jaundice typically appears 2-3 days after birth, peaks between 4-6 days, and gradually subsides between 7-10 days. If the jaundice appears within 24 hours after birth and does not resolve within 2-3 weeks, or recurs after subsiding, these may be signs of pathological jaundice.
