Question

A 24-month-old boy has one side of his scrotum smaller than the other, which some people call ‘falling intestines’. What might be the reasons for this condition?

Answer

Generally, uneven scrotum size on both sides is a common phenomenon, but if the difference is significant, it may involve poor physical development, delayed growth, incomplete descent of the testicles, asymmetry or dislocation of the legs or hip joints, thinness due to deficiency of Qi or obesity, asymmetry of shoulders, or spinal deformities, especially lumbar issues. It is recommended to undergo a series of examinations and exclusions to determine whether sports training, physical therapy, or other treatment measures are necessary. It is not too late to observe the developmental status of pre-school children after pediatric examination.
