Premature birth refers to the birth of a child before the expected due date. Generally, live-born infants with a gestational age of less than 37 weeks are classified as premature or immature babies, with their birth weight usually less than 2500 grams and head circumference less than 33 centimeters. Premature babies whose organ functions and adaptive abilities are not as strong as full-term infants should receive special care. Due to the rapid growth and development of premature babies, proper feeding is more important than for full-term infants. The intelligence of premature babies is not directly related to their premature birth.
