Question

How to handle a child’s burn?

Answer

Once a child is burned by boiling water, steam, hot oil, or other hot substances, they should be immediately rinsed with cold water for 15 minutes or more to lower the regional temperature, reduce further damage to the wound, alleviate pain, and then seek medical advice. If blisters form, they can be left untreated. For blisters the size of soybeans and with shallow wound surfaces, you can use a sterilized pair of scissors to cut open the blisters. To avoid infection, it is best to seek further treatment at a hospital.
