Question

My child is 13 days old. Lately, they have been frequently hiccuping. Why do they keep hiccuping? Are they full or not digested? They hiccup every day. Is it normal for them to hiccup? What should I do?

Answer

Newborn hiccups are primarily caused by three reasons: first, improper care, exposure to wind and cold, or reversed cold and heat may lead to hiccups; second, incorrect milk intake, such as overconsumption or drinking cold milk or taking cold medicine, may cause stomach gas to reverse and lead to hiccups.
