Question

My son just turned 14 weeks old. Is it possible for him to visit a dentist for tooth alignment correction? Additionally, is it necessary to have the correction done just to make the child’s teeth look neater and more attractive? Thank you!!!

Answer

The best time for correcting dental deformities is during the early stage of permanent teeth (i.e., at the age of 12 or 13). This period, when the teeth are just completed with the replacement process, is a time of vigorous growth and development. Functional deformities often occur during the mixed dentition period (6-12 years old), and delayed treatment can lead to skeletal deformities. The optimal correction period should be during the mixed dentition period. It is recommended to first visit a regular dental hospital for a check-up and then proceed with treatment after the teeth have formed.
