Question
My child is 15 days old and gets startled when they hear the sound of doors closing or other noises, even when they are sleeping. What could be the cause of this, and are there any ways to prevent or treat it?
Answer
Getting startled by the sound of doors closing or other noises indicates that your baby has a good sense of hearing. You can give your child some pearl powder or similar anti-convulsant medication. It’s very likely that the baby got scared, which caused this reaction! There’s also a possibility that it’s due to a calcium deficiency. It’s a common reaction in newborns, and my son also had it. Of course, it’s better to go to the hospital for a check-up to rule out the possibility of other diseases.
