Question

Could you please explain why I still need a follow-up despite my low-risk Down Syndrome screening results? Free-hCG βmom value: 3.036, AFP βmom value: 1.45321, Trisomy risk: 1/520 (standard 1/270), Trisomy 18 risk: 1/50,000, NTD risk: Negative

Answer

Your test results are normal. Low risk indicates normalcy, but this test is merely a screening method, not absolutely accurate. Considering the current examination situation, there’s no need to worry. However, the most accurate method is to undergo amniocentesis for chromosomal testing. If the Down Syndrome screening is low risk, we only need routine tests. There’s no need for further fetal Down Syndrome screening.
