Question

My baby was born with newborn jaundice. I heard that exposing the newborn jaundice to sunlight can help fade it. Appropriately using sunlight exposure on the baby’s skin is beneficial for the condition. How long should the baby be exposed to sunlight for jaundice?

Answer

Generally, it is recommended for about 10 minutes. It is not advisable for sunlight to pass through glass. Always be cautious when opening windows to avoid freezing the baby. Keep the indoor temperature higher. The best times are between 9 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 6 pm. Newborn skin is delicate. During this time, the sunlight is not too intense. It must be done after the baby has eaten and ensure that the baby drinks plenty of water after being dry.
