Question
What are the symptoms of neonatal aspiration pneumonia?
Answer
Aspiration pneumonia occurs when acidic substances, animal fats, gastric juices, or other irritant liquids are inhaled, leading to chemical pneumonia. In severe cases, it may cause respiratory failure or respiratory distress syndrome. Symptoms include sudden difficulty breathing, cyanosis, low blood pressure, coughing up frothy sputum with blood, and hearing lung wet rales. Patients during treatment need to maintain regular diet and rest, actively participate in physical exercise, adjust physical and mental health, maintain personal hygiene, and avoid bacterial infections due to decreased immunity.
