Question
My little nephew accidentally burned his hand while playing with firecrackers a couple of days ago during the Spring Festival. There’s a big blister on his right hand. Can toothpaste be used for a burn on the hand?
Answer
Toothpaste can be used for a burn on the hand. After a burn occurs, it should be immediately rinsed with tap water. The sooner the rinsing is done, the better, and it should be continued for 10-20 minutes. In cases of chemical burns that affect areas such as the eyes or esophagus, immediate rinsing with large amounts of water should be done at the scene. Do not wait until you get to the hospital to treat it, as this may cause severe tissue corrosion burns, leading to blindness or scarring of the esophagus.
