Question

My child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, and watching them suffer is incredibly heart-wrenching as a parent. I’m hoping to learn about physical therapy methods that can help my child. Issues such as feeding, suckling, and swallowing coordination, difficulties in nursing and weight gain, and sensitivity to noise or changes in position are of great concern.

Answer

Cerebral palsy is a disabling condition with complex symptoms. However, with persistent treatment, patients can live as long as the general population. In countries with advanced rehabilitation medicine, many children with cerebral palsy have undergone comprehensive rehabilitation treatments and eventually returned to normal social life.
