Questions

What are the causes of infant hemangiomas? For an infant born less than 100 days ago who is diagnosed with a possible hemangioma, how should parents understand this situation? What treatment options are available?

Answers

Hemangiomas are caused by abnormal differentiation and development of blood vessels during embryogenesis, and they are not true tumors but rather a congenital vascular abnormality. For infant hemangiomas, if the location is not significant and no treatment is required, parents should simply monitor the condition. However, if the hemangioma is located in a critical area, surgical treatment should be considered. Currently, the effectiveness of drug treatment for hemangiomas is not ideal.
