Question
My baby has been suffering from diarrhea for the past few days, with stools resembling thin rice porridge, occurring four or five times a day. He also has a slight fever, and I’m unsure if it’s due to teething or from constantly sucking his fingers and catching a virus. He has a bit of a runny nose. In the past half month, he has been taking American KR Colostrum Tablets and Mead Johnson’s Enfamil Baby Formula in the third stage, as well as KR’s multi-plant extract chewable tablets. When I took him for a check-up, the doctor said it was caused by damp-heat and teething, and only prescribed a little medicine. I’ve seen the doctor twice. Now he’s lost weight, which is really pitiful. Can any mothers or doctors help? Can anyone check if there’s an issue with the KR Colostrum or Mead Johnson products? The duration of this illness and current situation: It has been going on for several days. Currently still having diarrhea, not eating meat, eggs, or milk, only drinking thin rice porridge and eating white rice. Medical history: Several episodes, mainly related to infection and unhygienic diet. A routine stool test and rotavirus test are needed. If white blood cell count is high, oral cefpodoxime proxetil tablets, Mommy Love, bifidobacteria, or montmorillonite powder can be taken for treatment; if white blood cell count is not high, cefpodoxime is not needed. Drink plenty of light salt water. If the child shows signs of poor spirits and reduced urine output, it indicates dehydration and may require intravenous fluid therapy and possibly hospitalization. Pay attention to dietary hygiene; avoid cold food and overnight leftovers. The course of enteritis usually lasts about a week.
