Question

One month ago, my child just took Vermox, but now they are feeling itchy around the buttocks, as if there are small worms. Is it too frequent to give my child Vermox again? Does Vermox not treat pinworms? What other treatment methods can you recommend? Thank you.

Answer

Vermox is usually recommended to be taken on an empty stomach, as consuming food with the medication may affect its absorption. If your child took Vermox on an empty stomach and did not eat any snacks for two hours afterwards, the itching around the buttocks may not be caused by worms but could be hemorrhoids or a perianal fungal infection. It is advisable to continue observing your child’s condition and use medication under a doctor’s guidance. Generally, medication should be used according to a doctor’s advice and any changes should be closely monitored.
