Question

How should subretinal hemorrhage due to newborn hypoxia be treated?

Answer

The amount, location of bleeding, and the speed of bleeding vary, leading to different manifestations. Subretinal hemorrhage usually occurs in full-term infants and may be related to birth trauma or a history of hypoxia. Small amounts of bleeding may not show obvious symptoms or signs, but cerebrospinal fluid may appear bloody, generally with a good prognosis. Large amounts of bleeding may trigger seizures within 48 hours after birth and may lead to death in the short term.
