Question

The newborn is 40 days old, and the CT scan shows a reduction in white matter density in both frontal lobes by about 15HU. How should neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy be treated?

Answer

Muscle tone weakness may be caused by brain hypoxia and ischemia. It is generally recommended to undergo at least three courses of treatment for hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, using agents such as Cerebrolysin or ganglioside preparations to promote brain recovery, and early rehabilitation treatment is necessary. The likelihood of whether sequelae appear and their probability are currently difficult to assess, but active treatment can help reduce the risk of sequelae as much as possible.
