Question
What are the possible symptoms of pediatric tonsillitis?
Answer
When a child develops tonsillitis, most children may experience a sore throat, accompanied by inflammatory conditions in the ears. Typically, children will have a fever, which may be a persistent low-grade fever or a high fever up to 40 degrees Celsius. In the presence of fever, many children may also experience headaches, body aches, and shivering. At the same time, due to the congestion of the mucous membrane in the throat, the child’s tonsils may become swollen. A few children may develop complications such as bronchial asthma, sepsis, and nephritis. Therefore, it is recommended that parents seek medical attention promptly if they discover that their child has tonsillitis.
