Question

I don’t know what’s going on, but my newborn is 19 days old and eats and poops less, sleeps a lot. The doctor said it’s constipation, and I’ve tried eating, but the effect isn’t great. Are there any other ways to deal with it?

Answer

If the baby eats less, the frequency of bowel movements will naturally decrease. Normally, newborns should have bowel movements 2 to 4 times a day. Check whether the baby is breastfed or formula-fed, as formula can easily cause heat in the body. It is recommended to add a feeding of water between each feeding and gently massage the baby’s abdomen to promote intestinal peristalsis. You can use digestive medicine to assist; take it once a day and dissolve it in chilled water after refrigeration. The water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees.
