Question

Why do babies always need to be held while sleeping and cry when put down? I would like to know the reason for this.

Answer

Crying is a baby’s way of expressing themselves. Newborns do not use language to convey their needs; crying is their language. When babies are not yet able to communicate with the outside world using language or gestures, crying is the only means they have to express their needs. They may cry intermittently when restless or lonely, occasionally opening their eyes to look around. Holding them to soothe them can stop the crying. If a baby cries during sleep, it is advisable to consult a local, regular, comprehensive pediatric examination to check for deficiencies in calcium or other issues, and further treatment can be more appropriate.
