Question

I am a new mother, 28 years old, and currently in the breastfeeding phase. How much impact does topical anesthetic have on breastfeeding?

Answer

Ingested anesthetics have little impact on the baby’s milk intake, as they are metabolized quickly in the skin. The foundation for milk production is adequate nutrition, so dietary adjustments should be made, including fish, meat, milk, eggs, vegetables, and fruits. Avoid greasy or overly salty foods, drink more soups and broths, and avoid smoking and alcohol. Breastfeeding mothers should ensure they get more than 8 hours of sleep every day, especially deep sleep during the late night, to ensure that sufficient prolactin is released.
