Question
What are the treatment methods for cerebral palsy?
Answer
Cerebral palsy is a multiple disability caused by non-progressive brain damage during the developmental period within one month after birth. The main characteristics are central motor disorders and postural abnormalities. This condition may be accompanied by intellectual disability, seizures, behavioral abnormalities, or sensory impairments, and it is necessary to rule out central paralysis caused by progressive diseases and normal transient developmental delays in children. Children with cerebral palsy exhibit the following four abnormalities: delayed motor development; abnormal muscle tone and posture; decreased voluntary movement and/or abnormal movement; and abnormal reflexes. Recommendation: The treatment of cerebral palsy cannot rely solely on a single method; medication can only be used as an auxiliary treatment. Comprehensive treatments such as massage can achieve good results, and they require persistence, as this condition requires a considerable amount of time.
