Question

What are the causes of fetal brain palsy?

Answer

The symptoms of fetal brain palsy typically appear in infancy, characterized by abnormal posture and delayed motor development. Although brain damage or abnormal development is non-progressive, clinical manifestations may change as the brain heals and develops. Ischemic hypoxic encephalopathy in early infancy usually presents with decreased muscle tone, which gradually transitions to increased muscle tone. Balance disorders may only become apparent when the baby reaches the developmental stage of sitting or even standing. Subsequent changes such as joint contractures and spinal deformities may also gradually emerge.
