Question
My son has been very fussy since birth. Now, at over 1 year old, he still can’t speak. Seeing children of the same age speak, I’m very worried. A few days ago, I took my son to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said my son has cerebral palsy. I want to know what methods are available for treating cerebral palsy in children?
Answer
One, surgical treatment is used to provide appropriate correction for severe joint contractures and deformities. Common procedures include tenotomy, selective peripheral nerve partial section, Hoke Achilles tendon sliding extension, and distal transfer of the rectus femoris muscle. Two, in terms of medication treatment, there is no definitive cure for this condition. Medications serve as an auxiliary treatment. Mainly include Cerebrolysin, Cytidine diphosphocholine, Type A botulinum toxin, cerebroside myo-inositol, baclofen, and Valium.
