Question
Hello! My child is now two months old, and there are many red rashes on their forehead. It looks red and there seems to be some yellow scabs. The top of their head looks like it’s peeling off, and I’m not sure what the cause is.
Answer
The many small particles on the baby’s forehead might be acne. Especially in the infant stage, babies may develop infantile acne or neonatal acne. Generally speaking, due to the presence of androgens in the baby’s body before birth, which promote the secretion of sebum from the facial sebaceous glands to some extent after birth, leading to local inflammation and resulting in acne. There may also be eczema on the face after birth, known as infantile eczema. Infantile eczema is often related to improper care after birth, such as wearing too many clothes or too many covers, which may cause eczema.
