Question

My baby was born a few hours ago and I noticed that she is having difficulty breathing and crying very loudly. I can see that her lips are slightly blue. The examination revealed neonatal pneumonia. How should neonatal pneumonia be treated? And how much does it cost to treat neonatal pneumonia?

Answer

Neonatal pneumonia should be treated symptomatically. Oxygen should be administered when there is rapid breathing and cyanosis appears. Pay attention to intermittent oxygen administration. It is not recommended to use continuous positive pressure ventilation to avoid exacerbating pulmonary emphysema. For metabolic acidosis, slowly inject medication to control it, and repeat if necessary. Correct acidosis in a timely manner. In cases where the baby’s course exceeds 2 days, antibiotics can be used to prevent secondary infection.
