Question

My baby is five months old, and I recently started introducing complementary foods. I add one new food at a time, once a day, for 4-5 days. However, no matter what I add, my baby has diarrhea, with smelly stool and bubbles. Should this be considered indigestion? How should I introduce complementary foods then? Please help me figure out how to proceed with complementary feeding.

Answer

The appearance of diarrhea in a 5-month-old baby after introducing complementary foods may be due to underdeveloped gastrointestinal function or adding too much too quickly. It is recommended to reduce the amount of complementary food and administer digestive aids for adjustment to improve the baby’s condition.
