Question
Why does my baby refuse to eat solid food but only drink breast milk? What are the general situations?
Answer
There shouldn’t be anything to worry about. Some children start eating solid food a bit later. When they get older, they will show a desire to eat like others do. That’s when you can introduce some solid food. I suggest starting with vegetables and fruit juices from the third month, and gradually introducing rice porridge, noodles, and other cereals from the fourth month. In general, follow a principle of gradual introduction. Start with small amounts and gradually increase, from thin to thick, from one type to multiple types, and from simple to complex. If there’s diarrhea, pause or reduce the introduction, and then gradually resume after it improves.
