Question

My baby has green, watery stools with BB diarrhea. We’ve tried Montmorillonite Powder, Probiotics, and other remedies, but there’s no improvement. It’s been five or six days. What’s going on? Someone said it might be due to a fright, could that be a factor? Help!!!!!!!!

Answer

Physiological diarrhea is not a disease but a normal phenomenon. For example, breastfed babies often experience this. Their stools are loose, and they may have 7 or 8 bowel movements a day, sometimes with green stools and milk curds, and they contain more water. This type of diarrhea is not caused by pathogenic bacteria, viruses, fatty diarrhea, intestinal dysfunction, or indigestion. Its main characteristics are: the number of bowel movements per day does not exceed 8 times, and the amount of each bowel movement is not large; although loose, the stools do not separate from the water content; there is no peculiar smell, the color is slightly yellow, and there may be some green stools and milk curds; urine output is normal; the baby’s mental state is good, they eat milk normally, and there are no signs of fever, abdominal distension, or abdominal pain (babies with abdominal pain will cry and curl up their bodies with their buttocks arching back); weight gain is normal, and regular stool examinations are normal. Occasionally, there may be a small amount of white blood cells and fat particles present.
