Question

Can canker sores trigger Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease in my daughter?

Answer

The oral mucosal rash of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is characterized by scattered vesicles or ulcers, mostly located in the oropharynx, tongue, lip mucosa, etc., which can cause oral pain. At the same time, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease primarily manifests as maculopapular rashes and vesicles on the hands, feet, and oral mucosa. Canker sores occur only inside the mouth, appearing as individual or clustered small vesicles on the gums, buccal mucosa, tongue, and palate. These vesicles can break down to form small ulcers that may fuse into larger ulcers. Canker sores do not appear on other parts of the mouth outside the oral cavity.
