Question
Can patients with hand, foot, and mouth disease take a bath?
Answer
In most cases, patients with hand, foot, and mouth disease can bathe. Typically, symptoms will resolve on their own within a week, and patients usually recover completely. There is currently no specific treatment for hand, foot, and mouth disease, but symptomatic treatment can be adopted to reduce fever and alleviate pain caused by oral ulcers. Always wash hands immediately after handling secretions, stool, or contaminated items. If a child has a high fever, declining vital signs, or worsening symptoms, please take the child to the hospital as soon as possible.
