Question

The lower part of my nose is crooked, and it’s been like this since birth. It always feels a bit awkward to look at, as if it doesn’t look the same as others. Can surgery change it?

Answer

A crooked nose can be caused by various factors. First, it can be due to congenital developmental issues where the nasal bones and nasal septum are curved. Second, it can be acquired due to trauma, injuries, car accidents, or traffic accidents that result in nasal bone fractures and a crooked nose. If the crookedness is caused by a deviated nasal septum, it can be improved through a septoplasty. If the crookedness is due to a nasal bone deformity, it can be corrected through osteotomy to straighten the crooked part. Osteotomy, internal advancement, and other methods can be used to correct a crooked nose, and sometimes it may be necessary to place some grafts on the nasal bridge to improve the appearance of the crooked nose.
