Question

Does brushing eyelashes down make them shorter? Does it make the eyes look smaller? Do eyelashes continue to grow? Is it necessary to pluck eyelashes?

Answer

This action will not make the eyelashes shorter; please maintain good hygiene. The size of each person’s eyelashes and eyes is genetically determined. Eyelashes grow at the front edge of the eyelid and are generally arranged in 2-3 rows, relatively short and curved. The upper eyelid has more and longer lashes, usually with 100-150 lashes, averaging 8-12mm in length, and they grow slightly upwards and forwards, serving a protective function. Eyelashes do not need to be plucked; they will continue to regenerate. A plucked eyelash will grow back by 1-2mm after one week, and it will take about 10 weeks to return to its original length.
