Question
With the arrival of spring these past two days, but the child has developed constipation. What is constipation diet therapy?
Answer
Constipation occurs due to abnormalities in a child’s digestive tract, with the primary cause often being dietary issues. Diet includes both quality and quantity; if the quality is poor, consisting mainly of proteins and animal products without the intake of fibrous plant foods, it usually leads to constipation. The second cause is the amount of food consumed; if each meal consists of relatively small portions, this amount may not be sufficient in the digestive tract, leading to longer times before bowel movements. Therefore, constipation refers to the condition where bowel movements occur after 5-6 days, or some may become drier and occur every 2-3 days, which is more common in infants.
