Question
What are the possible clinical symptoms if a child has tonsillitis?
Answer
The tonsils are located at the back of the throat, and one of the most obvious symptoms of pediatric tonsillitis is sore throat and difficulty swallowing. Most children will have a fever, with body temperatures reaching 39-40 degrees Celsius. During a fever, the child may experience chills and headaches, feeling generally weak and without energy. The tonsils usually become congested, red, and swollen. In severe cases, serious complications such as sepsis or endocarditis may occur. Severe tonsillitis can even be life-threatening, so timely treatment is crucial.
