Question

When a child is learning, how do I teach them when they still don’t understand or can’t perform, and they often react slower than others? I suspect they might have intellectual disability. What symptoms might this condition present?

Answer

There are generally two reasons. Firstly, the baby may have chromosomal or genetic defects or abnormalities. Secondly, during pregnancy, there may be growth and development issues, or exposure to industrial pollution and other factors that can lead to incomplete development in certain aspects. Sometimes, a baby may be born with normal intelligence but later suffer from improper care management, such as colds and fever, which can also affect intellectual development. However, no matter what, spending more time with your baby and engaging in more communication will help. Intellectual disability does not necessarily mean that development is impossible. Sometimes, when God closes two doors, He always leaves a window open.
