Question

My baby is 34 days old and today, when I went for the vaccination, the medical staff pointed out that the baby’s jaundice index is high. What should be the normal range for newborn jaundice? How can I get the jaundice index back to normal? Do I need to take medication to lower the jaundice?

Answer

For a normal newborn, if jaundice persists for more than 30 days, the bilirubin level should not exceed 7. If it does, consider the possibility of pathological jaundice. You may consider giving your baby artichoke yellow granules and appropriately expose your baby to sunlight, while protecting their eyes during sun exposure. Additionally, you should also rule out whether it is breastfeeding jaundice.
