Question
Sometimes I feel discomfort, not sure if it’s serious. I am known to have pediatric hydrocephalus and have symptoms of mood disorders. Is this condition contagious?
Answer
Pediatric hydrocephalus itself is not contagious. The main causes of hydrocephalus include excessive cerebrospinal fluid secretion or absorption disorders. Common pathogenic factors include: first, the proliferation of ependymal nerve plexus in the lateral ventricles, with active secretion function leading to dysfunction in the choroid plexus, thereby causing hydrocephalus; second, cerebrospinal fluid absorption disorders, such as meningitis during fetal development that may cause cerebrospinal fluid absorption disorders, leading to the formation of hydrocephalus. Therefore, mood disorders in pediatric hydrocephalus patients are not caused by contagious factors.
