Question

My baby is 23 days old and always breastfeeds. The jaundice on the forehead is 12.7, and there is frequent vomiting. Should I stop breastfeeding? Is drinking glucose water and sunbathing beneficial for jaundice reduction? I would like to ask about newborn jaundice levels.

Answer

Jaundice may occur when the bilirubin level exceeds 17.1 mmol/L. Your baby’s bilirubin level is slightly elevated. It can be treated with blue light therapy and oral medications, such as phyllanthus. Sunlight exposure is also effective. Breastmilk jaundice can be temporarily stopped for three days. Consider pediatric consultation and follow the doctor’s advice. Good care and frequent sunbathing are recommended. If necessary, substitute with milk products and consider medication control and phototherapy.
