Question
What are the common symptoms of pediatric tonsillitis?
Answer
Many children may experience recurrent tonsillitis, with symptoms relatively easy to detect. Most children will experience throat pain, and some may have fever, which could be a persistent low-grade fever or as high as 40 degrees Celsius. Children may also exhibit symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, and headaches. The tonsils may become red and swollen due to congestion. If not treated promptly, some children may develop serious complications such as nephritis or endocarditis. Therefore, if any of the above symptoms are observed in a child, medical attention should be sought immediately to avoid complications.
