Question

What clinical symptoms may occur during pediatric tonsillitis?

Answer

Most children with tonsillitis will experience a sore throat, which may become more difficult during swallowing, and usually accompanied by mild or persistent low-grade fever. When feverish, many children may also experience headaches, body aches, and shivering. Additionally, due to the congestion of the pharyngeal mucosa, the tonsils become significantly swollen. If not addressed promptly, it may lead to some complications such as rheumatic fever, nephritis, and sepsis. It is recommended that parents take their children to the doctor as soon as possible to avoid the worsening of the condition and unnecessary harm to the child.
