Question

Dear parents, my son is just over 3 months old. Initially, he felt pain when drinking water, and I noticed that his coughing seemed more severe. He also had a low-grade fever. How should we diagnose and treat tonsillitis in a child who is crying and restless?

Answer

It is recommended that parents choose appropriate antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications under a doctor’s guidance to effectively alleviate inflammatory symptoms. Additionally, regional drug sprays or laser therapy can be administered. Painkillers can also be given to the child for throat pain. If there is a fever, choose a cooling method based on body temperature; below 38.5 degrees Celsius, physical cooling can be used, and oral fever-reducing medication can be taken if above 38.5 degrees Celsius. If the medication is not effective and there are recurrent episodes, consider surgical treatment. After the condition improves, it is recommended to let the child engage in moderate exercise to enhance immunity and prevent recurrence.
